London Gay Guide 2026: Soho, Vauxhall & Pride (1M+ Guide)

London Gay Guide 2026: Soho's Old Compton Street pub culture meets Vauxhall's all-night techno clubs. Comptons, Eagle London, Fire & Vault. Plus Pride in London — 1 million+ attendees every July.

London has one of Europe's greatest gay scenes — two very different flavours under one city. Soho's Old Compton Street is the iconic gay village: pubs and bars from noon, drag queens, and LGBTQ+ history on every corner. Vauxhall, across the Thames, is where Europe's most serious gay clubs are — techno, circuit parties, leather nights running until dawn. Pride in London draws 1 million+ every July.

London's Two Gay Worlds

🌈 Soho

Old Compton Street and surrounding streets form London's historic gay village. Pubs, bars, café terraces — busy from noon to late at night. Nearest tube: Leicester Square or Tottenham Court Road (5 min walk).

🎧 Vauxhall

South of the Thames: Europe-grade techno and circuit club venues. Eagle London, Fire & Vault. This is where the serious gay club scene happens — starting at midnight, going until midday on Sundays in summer. Nearest tube: Vauxhall (Victoria Line).

Best Gay Bars & Pubs (Soho)

The definitive Soho gay pub since 1986. Ground floor is a traditional pub; upstairs is a sports bar. Reliably busy, reliably welcoming. A landmark of London's LGBTQ+ history.

#2 Duke of Wellington ("The Welly")

The most authentic local gay pub on the strip. Great drag shows and weekend DJs. Very popular with South Asian gay men and those seeking a less touristy atmosphere.

Some venues run until 06:00–08:00 on weekends. Summer Sunday afternoon sessions at Fire & Vault are legendary — an after-party that starts around noon.
