Usedom, often called the "Sun Island" of the Baltic Sea, straddles the border between Germany and Poland. On the German side lies Ahlbeck, one of the three famous "Kaiserbäder" (Imperial Spas), renowned for its spectacular 19th-century resort architecture and its historic pier. Just beyond the rigid promenades lies the designated FKK beach, offering a striking contrast between imperial formality and complete naturist freedom.
The beach itself is magnificent: flat, wide, with powdery white sand fading into the shallow, gentle waters of the Baltic. The FKK area here is steeped in the East German tradition where public natureness was an everyday pleasure. The gay community has a long-established presence on this beach. It is generally very relaxed and family-friendly, but a distinct gay section naturally forms during the busy summer months, marked by a highly social, inclusive atmosphere.
For Japanese visitors, Ahlbeck offers a fascinating cultural blend: classic European spa town elegance steps away from a carefree, nature beach environment. It's a place where you can stroll along a grand pier in the morning, and spend the afternoon sunbathing exactly as nature intended alongside a friendly, mixed-age crowd.

Classic Baltic seaside experience. The beach is pristine and the water is shallow and surprisingly warm in July. The gay section is friendly and mixes well with the general naturist crowd.
Beautiful architecture in town, beautiful nature on the beach. Getting a Strandkorb is a must. The FKK area is massive so you never feel cramped.
Great spot. Very laid back. The contrast between the rigid promenades and the total freedom of the FKK beach is quite something. Good connections from Berlin too.
