Wannsee FKK Beach

The Wannsee is Berlin's great lake — a vast, shimmering body of water in the west of the city that has been a summer playground for Berliners for over a century. Its famous Strandbad Wannsee is one of Europe's largest inland beach facilities, but it is the designated FKK (Freikörperkultur) section that draws the city's naturist and gay community season after season.

The FKK area at Wannsee is everything that Teufelssee is not: it's large, accessible, and organized. White sand stretches along the lakeshore for several hundred metres, with the sky opening up above and the water glittering in the summer light. This is a proper beach experience — you can rent a beach chair, buy food from the on-site kiosk, and enjoy the sun in a well-maintained environment. The LGBT+ presence is strong on warm weekends.

For Japanese visitors, Wannsee FKK offers a very different experience to Teufelssee. Where the latter is intimate and atmospheric, Wannsee is social and expansive. It's an ideal introduction to European naturist culture for those who might feel more comfortable in a larger, more structured environment. The S-Bahn connection makes it genuinely easy to reach from central Berlin in under an hour.
